Blue Star Tequila Añejo Named “Best in Class” and Double Gold Winner at the 2025 New York World Spirits Competition

In its remarkable debut year, Blue Star Tequila has struck gold twice. After earning Double Gold at The Tasting Alliance New York World Spirits Competition 2025, our Añejo has now been honored as Best in Class, the top distinction in its category, while its Blanco earned a Bronze medal, underscoring the brand’s quality across its portfolio.
Hosted by The Tasting Alliance, one of the world’s most respected authorities in spirits evaluation, the NYWSC brings its prestigious blind-tasting format to the East Coast, where entries are judged solely on aroma, flavor, and craftsmanship.
A Stellar Debut Year
Blue Star Tequila Añejo captured Double Gold and the coveted “Best in Class” title, awarded only to the highest-rated spirit within each category, signifying unanimous gold-level acclaim from every judge.
“These awards affirm our dedication to true craft, terroir, and the bold character of night-harvested 100% blue agave,” said Tom Carr, Founder of Blue Star Tequila. “What makes this recognition even more remarkable is that every other tequila considered for Best in Class sells at a far higher price point than our Añejo at just $49.99. It proves that world-class, premium quality tequila doesn't have to come with an elite price tag or celebrity endorsement.”
Brian Coltraine, COO of Blue Star Tequila, added: “To win Double Gold and Best in Class for our Añejo, alongside a Bronze for our Blanco, in one of the most competitive spirits markets in the world is extraordinary, especially for a first-year brand. It validates our mission to craft tequila that’s both authentic and boldly innovative.”
